Travelling by Car
Travelling South take the M5 to Exeter then the A38 towards Plymouth leaving at the Totnes turning on the A384. On reaching Totnes turn right at major set of traffic lights onto the A381 following signs to Dartmouth. Continue to follow signs for Dartmouth turning left onto the A3122 at Halwell. Total distance from Totnes approximately 12 miles.

Car Parking in Dartmouth in 2009
April 1st to September 30th
During the months of April to September the only town car park is short stay and we recommend
visitors to use the Park & Ride.
Park & Ride - TQ6 0JL - is situated on the A3122
Totnes road by the Dartmouth Leisure Centre
and opposite Sainsbury’s. Open to all motor vehicles (not having a trailer attached)
classed (i), (ii), (iii), plus coaches, except during period of Dartmouth Regatta.
Charges – Cars: £4 for 24 hours or £3 after 2pm but this will only last until the end
of the day. If 24 hours required after 2pm the charge is £4. Coaches: £6 for 24 hours.
Change is needed as tickets are issued by machine.
Weekly Permits £29 for 7 days available from Tourist Information Centre
Buses run from 8 am until 6.40 pm Mon – Sat; 9.30 am – 6.40 pm Sunday. Every 10 mins then
20 minutes after 2pm and all day Sundays.
If the last bus is missed the 90A to Townstal runs regularly until 11pm
In the town - please be aware that there is only one or two hour parking on the roadside during
the summer months. The Mayor’s Avenue Car Park in the town centre is limited to 4 hours.

October 1st to March 31st
Mayor’s Avenue Car Park reverts to Long Stay and the Weekly Permits can be used.
Parking on the North Embankment is free from the September to May.
Blue Badge Holders – have to pay in Mayor’s Avenue Car Park but can have one extra hour free.
Can also park on the road if the parking space is surrounded by broken white lines (nearly all
the road side parking is) or can park for 3 hours on double yellow lines as long as not causing
an obstruction.
Weekly Permits are issued by the Tourist Information Centre and cost £29 in 2009. They cover
parking in Mayor’s Avenue, 1st October to 31st March and the Park & Ride only 1st April to 30th
September. They also cover most other Car Parks in the South Hams.
Season ticket for holiday accommodation – if you are supplied with a Car Parking Permit with
your holiday accommodation this can be used in Mayor’s Avenue at any time of year, space
permitting. They do not give access to the Reserved Spaces by the hedge.
