The Great Create Festival of the Arts

The Great Create Festival will feature, paintings, photography, dance, music, installation, theatre, poetry, sculpture, artist demonstartions, mini art market in the courtyard at weekends and much more.

Over 75 of the best of Devon's contemporaray artists will be showcased.

Free entry to festival areas although normal National Trust fee applies if you wish to explore the wonderful gardens on the banks of the Dart. Greenway was once home to Agatha Christie.

Please travel by 'greenways' to Greenway - take a boat to Greenway Quay. (unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs).

Visiting Ship

HMS Enterprise, the newest ship of the two SVHO ‘Echo’ class survey vessels, was launched in Devon by her sponsor, Lady Sally Forbes, on 27 April 2002.  Truly a local ship; she was built by Vosper Thornycroft at the Appledore Shipyard in North Devon.

HMS Northumberland was built at Swan Hunters at Wallsend on the Tyne, being launched in April 1992 by the ship's sponsor Lady Kerr. She was accepted into Royal Naval Service in May 1994.

South Devon Walking Festival

After the huge success of its first walking festival South Devon AONB is organising a further festival in 2008. Whether you enjoy coastal, estuary or country walking the programme will have something to offer.

Approximately 30 walks will be running throughout the festival and there will be walks on offer for all ages and abilities with some especially designed for families.
