Information

Quirky’, ’Eccentric’ and ‘Quintessentially English’ are Fingals phrases.
This quiet, secluded hotel is home to Richard and Sheila Johnston who offer it as your home too. For the past 30 years Fingals has been evolving into the happy, harmonious place it is today and offers a very special holiday experience to those who come to stay.
Converted from a 17th century Farmhouse the hotel now has 11 individually decorated bedrooms – and a flock of doves. Two of the rooms are ‘stand alone’ – separate from the main building. The Stream Room is sleek, modern and stylish and has a private balcony overlooking the Barberry Water. The wooden Folly used to be a little flour mill but has been transformed with care - and designs merging Thai Klong River House and Carl Larsson Swedish Style Beach Hut – to offer a comfy retreat with vinyl turntable, wood burning stove and doors straight onto the tennis court. A couple of self-catering units, including a newly built Green Oak Barn, complete the accommodation.
Fingals is child friendly - kind to kids and dogs as well as adults. You can take the youngsters swimming and sailing or enjoy ‘grown up’ lazy days to relax and recharge while watching others play a game of tennis or croquet on the lawn. The Jacuzzi is always bubbling, the Snooker Table racked, the Library overflowing with books and there is Art everywhere.
Fingals Food is Fine Cuisine, local and wholesome - as local as our own organic garden. Fish is fresh from the River Dart or Start Bay, meat from fertile South Hams fields, wine and cheese from Dart Valley slopes. Children’s Tea is served at 6pm, Dinner much later at a communal table in our panelled Dining Room – or an intimate table next door if you prefer.
If you are looking for a safe family holiday, a quiet weekend break, a secluded romantic honeymoon, or a very special place for a wedding reception to remember, Fingals can give it all to you.

“If you want to experience an alternative dimension of relaxation and well-being, that’s what we do.”
