Fast Rabbit Farm was purchased in 1987 as Higher Ash Farm. The name change was the result of providing enthusiams for an ageing collie dog. The collie, an eager rabbiter, was puzzled bythe cry of 'look there's a hare'! When told it was a fast rabbit both the puzzlement and the collie vanished. Higher Ash Farm was to be renamed Fast Rabbit Farm.
The farm now consists of some 45 acres with woodland and two extensive valleys. Through one valley runs the River Black on course to Blackpool Sands and we have a lake which is home to golden orfe, golden pedd, mirror and koi carp. The garden has many varieties of bulbs, camellias, rhododendrons and magnolias with 40 ft climbing roses hanging from trees. In May the woods are densely crowded with bluebells and are home to buzzards, badgers, hares and, of coures, rabbits.There is a nursery, toilet facilities and plans for a visitor centre.
