Woofstock UK

Guest Blog Post – Heather (Woofstock UK)

Woofstock UK takes place in Coronation Park, Dartmouth on the 4th of August from 10am.

Hi I am Heather and I am one of the founders of Woofstock UK together with my partner Carol, our friend Mandie and her dog Bella, and our springer spaniel Harry, although he would say it was his idea! Woofstock UK is not our fulltime jobs although it takes up just as much time as if it were. Behind us is a small army of volunteers who turn up before the day to set up and also run the day as it is such a big undertaking. For the second consecutive year, the unique tail-wagging, foot-stomping festival that is Woofstock UK is returning to Dartmouth, offering a day out with a difference to four-legged visitors and their two-legged companions. This is the fourth Woofstock UK being held.

On Saturday 4th August, Coronation Park will be rocking to the sound of live music, while dogs strut their stuff in the show ring and spectators enjoy a variety of demonstrations including; agility, the new doggy sport of Hoopers and the ever-popular Devon and Cornwall Police Dog Training School. There’ll be awards for top dogs in a number of categories but there’s a treat in store for every dog, in the shape of an organic, edible entrance ticket!

Woofstock UK is a festival by dogs for dogs. That is no joke. The day is set up from a dog’s pawspective. So if dogs had their own festivals what would it be like? We are also the National Award winners for the best dog day out 2017 as voted by the public in the Dog Friendly Awards.

You do not have to be owned by a dog to come to Woofstock UK. If you love animals and want a day out which is full of fun and incredibly friendly then Woofstock UK is the place for you, we have visitors from all over the world who join us.

So, what can you expect? We have an incredibly special VIP this year, Lady Bathurst, who is travelling from Gloucestershire to open the show and present some awards. She may even pop her head in and do some judging too!

There is a lot happening on the day; we have 9 dog shows and a Best in Show category, live music with 6 bands on stage, doggy massage, doggy chill out zone, even doggy ice cream! As well as a whole array of stalls and a wide variety of food to an inflatable pub!

Next year we are moving to a weekend event on the 16th, 17th & 18th August 2019 in a new location. There will be camping and glamping on site too! Also on the 8th June 2019 we are holding the first ever Woofstock UK Black Tie Charity Ball at the Britannia Royal Naval College. Be sure you check the website for both these events.
