Dartmouth Visitor Centre Welcomes You Back!

Guest Blog Post – Dartmouth Visitor Centre

From the 4th July we will be re-opening our doors to once again offer visitors to the town information about local attractions, travel arrangements and accommodation advice. The team of staff and volunteers have excellent local knowledge and will be delighted to help you plan your visits and days out, as well expert knowledge we sell a wide variety of maps, walks and attractions leaflets.

In order to re-open the centre we will be following government guidance and have introduced some new measures to keep everyone safe when visiting.

Some of the measures now in place include;

* To help with social distancing there will be a limit to the number of staff and customers allowed in the centre at one time.
* We now have floor markings to help you safely observe social distancing and a one way system of operation.
* We’ve installed protective screens around the till counter between you and team members.
* We’re providing optional face coverings and visors for our staff and volunteers.
* We’ve installed hand sanitisers and we’ll thoroughly clean any device a team member or customer needs to touch before and after handling. We’ll be closing the centre each day for one hour between 12.30 – 1.30pm for further cleaning of displays.
* We will be taking card payments only, so you won’t be able to pay with cash until it’s safe to do so.

As well as being able to pop in and get all your vital visitor information, you’ll be able to pick up local gifts and souvenirs as well as see the historic Thomas Newcomen Memorial Engine. It’s the oldest working model of the first atmospheric steam engine and was invented here in Dartmouth by local man Thomas Newcomen c 1712.

The staff at the centre are looking forward to seeing you soon and welcoming you back to our wonderful town.
